Energy Savings On Lighting

In our continuing efforts to reduce energy we have changed the lighting in the ladies and gents toilets from 300 watts to 30 watts LCD lighting. In addition to this we now have our service yard lighting on photo cell so when it gets dark they come on and are on a timer to go off. This will in effect reduce our electric output.

Lifeguard Exams

Lifeguard exams took place in the aquadome on monday 27th of May
All lifeguards passed with flying colours.
Lifeguards and staff will be delagated with green responsibilities to come up with energy saving ideas.

Lifeguard training is still ongoing every Wednesday in the aqua dome,  exams set for sometime in May. 

We are incorporating some energy saving ideas into the training,  ie usage of waves and rivers in quite periods and saving on lighting.

Liquid Pool Cover

In an attempt to save on energy, we have introduced a new form of Pool Cover.

It would be very difficult to cover the Aqua Dome pool with a conventional pool cover, so we have researched this new form of pool cover in an attempt to save on heating , we are going to try it for a month and see if it works.

Key achievements to date:

1. We carried out visual management to raise awareness in the form of energy posters designed by Chris  http://www.krisoft.eu.
2. We established communication via Google drive: Contact list for Energy Improvement Project at Aqua Dome, Tralee

To Do List updated:

1. We will price external door fixing so they will only open one way and will be draft proof 
2. We will price an additional door to separate the reception from the changing area
3. We will price partition wall in glass to separate pool area from gym and reception
4. We will price PR motion sensors for two Jacuzzis and Tower Area
5. We will price a chemical pool cover 

Visual management will be implemented in the form of identifying energy usage on a daily basis (day and night) so that all staff will see:

how many kWh/day/night  we use

how many litters of oil is used daily

All energy saving measures will be recorded and the most effective energy saving measures will be sourced.
